For many years now, in celebration of the national holiday, we have gathered in mid-January to honor the message, courage and wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year I am thrilled to share that Marah Sarji, a Christian from Nazareth and PhD student at Princeton Theological Seminary, will be joining us.
I have felt great sadness at the realities of the Israel/Palestine violence and feel an obligation to better understand the history of this biblical land and her peoples. Marah will share from her own experiences and perspectives, both personal and theological.
There is much speculation around what Dr. King would say and do today regarding this struggle for security and justice - one thing is certain, and its essence is in this quote of his; "It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it."
Let's gather on MLK weekend to educate ourselves and be challenged to grow in act in accordance with our Lord! ~Pastor Jeff
