Calvary Church

Our Staff

We believe that the heavens and earth were called by the Creator’s word from non-existence into existence and that that same Word became flesh and dwelt among us in the person of Jesus of Nazareth; the promised Christ and agent of our reconciliation with God whom he taught was a loving father.

We believe that each person is created in the image of God and therefore merits consideration as a person of infinite dignity and worth and that our highest destiny is to know and worship God. This destiny is made possible by the grace of Christ received through repentance and salvation.

We believe that salvation is the restoration of relationship with God and that this is necessary because estrangement is the result of sin; an enslavement to self. This restoration is made possible through the gift of forgiveness and the infusion of a new nature received through confession and filling of God’s Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Holy Spirit, recipe view the indwelling presence of God, information pills leads believers into the Church; the messianic community visibly expressed through local congregations, treatment organized in various modes and scattered throughout the world. All members of the church are privileged by the Spirit to share in the ministry and mission of Christ and proclaim in word and deed the values of God’s kingdom until Christ returns.

Upon graduation, he worked in the restaurant business for a year and a half. It was during those days that he met his wife, Randi, who is now a Spanish teacher. Jeff loves sports, movies, landscaping, reading, travel, and spending time with folks around the table. He believes that hospitality, the welcome of the stranger, is the central ethic of scripture and says: Calvary is a fabulous community of people who love the Lord and truly seek to sojourn together as Christ’s disciples. Pastor Jeff would love to invite you to explore this multi-cultural movement of people.

Lauren Smythe  |  Youth Pastor

Lauren grew up in South Minneapolis between the Longfellow and Seward neighborhoods. Since becoming a Christian in high school, she’s loved learning how God is moving in this city. Her greatest passion is to help youth feel and become empowered to live out their dreams, know they are loved by God, and have the tools to pursue God and the life God has for them. Her other passions include making music with her voice and guitar, photography and graphic design, and playing with animals (especially cats). She’s lived out these passions before now through things like interning at various youth programs, working for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, leading youth missions trips with Next Step Ministries, and as a traveling school photographer with Lifetouch. She is so excited to pursue what she’s most passionate about in her favorite place of South Minneapolis with the Calvary family!
